About
California Main Street (CAMS) is a diverse network of communities supported by Main Street Approach practitioners, working to revitalize historic commercial districts through a place-based model that fosters inclusive transformation strategies. We do this by providing training, access to resources, partnership opportunities, and best practices to our members and affiliates.

CAMS is part of Main Street America, a coast-to-coast network of organizations and individuals working to bring vitality and prosperity to downtowns across the country through the framework of the Main Street Approach.

Summary
The Consultant will support the communications and marketing of the California Main Street program. The Consultant’s primary duties include developing and editing content, supporting the program’s digital media strategy, and assisting with the strategy and implementation of special projects, programs, and campaigns.

The Consultant must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to easily adjust tone and content based on platform and audience, and intermediate knowledge of the field of commercial district revitalization.

Services Include

  • Provide support on social media channels: Facebook and YouTube

  • Update website (Squarespace) with new blogs and webpages, upcoming events and resources for place-based economic development, and evolving partners and network.

  • Create content for quarterly newsletter (Mailchimp): interviewing directors, connecting with small businesses and local leaders, and otherwise highlighting the exemplary work happening in local communities.

  • Support the creation and sending out of email communications: CAMS Quarterly, special event emails, monthly updates to members, etc.

  • Support the collection and analysis of membership statistics for annual reports

  • Maintain Google Map of all programs and directors’ contact information

  • Membership list management

  • Conference coordination and marketing

  • Database development and management (Airtable) with support from Main Street America

Up to 30 hours per week.
