YaNique Salon and Accessories, located in Downtown Richmond, is a recipient of the American Express Inclusive Backing Grant Program, cycle 3. The Black- and woman-owned salon specializes in natural hair care, coloring, dreading, and hair braiding for men and women. This is the second time that Richmond Main Street Initiative has successfully connected one of its businesses to relief funding through the Main Street America network. Learn more

In May, Downtown SLO launched a brand-new pop-up activation in Mission Plaza. For 16 days, approximately 1500 locals and tourists alike visited the pop-up rink set-up in front of the historic Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa to enjoy special theme nights, live DJ sessions, and lots of roller disco fun. 74, one-hour sessions were offered throughout the event, with 18 completely sold-out! The Bellflower Farmers Market debuted a new look, time, and location on June 6. Serving the community since 1986, the City of Bellflower hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 20 to officially welcome the market to its new downtown location at the Town Center Plaza. With more space and a central location, the market now features 35+ craft, food, and agricultural product vendors, as well as family friendly activities and live music. Watch a fun recap

Carlsbad Village Association celebrated the return of their 24th Annual Art in the Village event on June 26…and it was their biggest one to date! The family-friendly event featured over 130 artist vendors, live art demonstrations, music, local food vendors, and a “first ever” food, beer, and wine garden. The aroma of steaming flapjacks, hot syrup, and sizzling sausage wafted throughout Downtown Redding on Friday, May 20, marking the return of the Annual Rodeo Week Pancake Breakfast. Started in 1954 by the Asphalt Cowboys, an association of local businessmen dedicated to organizing community-serving activities in Shasta County, this year’s “sold out” event attracted thousands to Viva Downtown Redding’s Market Street Promenade and kicked off a week of festivities celebrating the county’s rodeo heritage.
