Benicia Main Street hosted the 14th Annual Scarecrow Contest! Throughout the month of October, businesses on First Street and the entire town showed off creative storefront scarecrows. The public were invited to cast their votes on the best displays at the Benicia Main Street office. See the Scarecrows

Downtown Mariposa is receiving a major investment in roadway infrastructure. The new project includes installing curbs, gutters, sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, pedestrian-activated warning lights at intersections, and more along State Route 140. Main Street Mariposa is doing an excellent job sharing updates with the community through their Facebook page and monthly meet-ups at a local coffee shop. Learn More

The Black Cultural Zone’s Akoma Outdoor Market was featured in the San Francisco Business Times. The joy-filled event takes place twice a month and features Black and brown vendors selling everything from produce to body care items, plus food trucks, performances, and fitness activities. Otters, otters, everywhere! Eureka Main Street partnered on the North Coast Otters Public Arts Initiative, a merger of citizen art and science. 108 colorful and unique otter art sculptures were put on display in shops, restaurants, and public spaces throughout Humboldt and surrounding counties from June - September. In October, Leucadia 101 Main Street Association launched Leucadia C.A.R.E.S., a video series that celebrates “who we are, what our community stands for and our shared future.”  The series will pay homage to the people behind the arts, restaurants, environment, and small businesses that keep their community rooted and inspire meaningful change.
